Document Description: Though many Black students and faculty were dissatisfied with the temporary space set aside for the Black Cultural Center, the University’s BCC officially opened on July 1, 1988 in a temporary space in the Frank Porter Graham Student Union with Margo Crawford as its first director. This article details some of the plans for the opening of the center and includes a map of the 800 square foot space.
