Student Protestors Arrested in Chancellor Hardin’s Office

Document Description: Following a two week-long sit-in in South Building, on April 15, 1993, Chancellor Paul Hardin ordered all students still occupying South Building arrested if they did not leave. Within an hour, over 300 students had gathered in the building and the UNC police began to threaten to arrest those students who did not leave. Seventeen individuals were arrested and carried down to a van, which took them to the county jail in Hillsborough. Chancellor Hardin eventually dropped the charges against the seventeen arrested.
